FRANCE AND GERMANY PAVE THE WAY FOR EUROPEAN SOLIDARITY

Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron proposed at a joint press conference the creation of a stimulus fund of 500 billion euros, integrated into the next European budget. While the European Union was looking for a second wind in the response to the crisis, this initiative attempts to build consensus between the divergent positions of the 27 member states. For Théo Verdier, associate expert at the Jean-Jaurès Foundation, vice-president of the European Movement-France in charge of opinion campaigns, the crisis linked to the Covid-19 pandemic reveals the lack of Europe in the health field and must lead us to think about the actions of States on a European scale
