COVID-19: Mauritius obtains emergency aid of Rs 4 billion from the IMF

In order to ensure the financing of COVID-19 Economic Support Plan of Minister Padayachy, the amount of which must be higher than the War Chest of Rs 18 billion, initially estimated, the government has requested emergency assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Official indications are that this international financial institution has decided to pay an emergency envelope of $ 96 million, or about Rs 4 billion, representing 50% of the quota of Mauritius, following the request made by the Ministry of Finance at the end of last week.
