COVID-19: 600 Mauritians stranded at airports around the world

Nando Bodha: "The problem is complex because of the number of people involved and the number of airports where they are blocked"

Flights between Mauritius and Rodrigues suspended tomorrow

Mauritian authorities, in particular the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are currently stepping up efforts to find ways to repatriate some 600 Mauritians stranded at airports around the world. Minister Nando Bodha said yesterday that arduous discussions are taking place with the French, Indian, Moroccan and Malagasy authorities, among others, in order to come to the aid of any Mauritian stranded somewhere in the world. The complexity of the work lies in the number of people involved at the starting points in different regions of the world, he made clear. In addition, flights between Mauritius and Rodrigues will be suspended tomorrow.
